Mocha’s New Video: Cat Wants M&M’s

So Mocha has this need to bat at things. Namely the shower curtain, the blinds, the hamper, and, in this case, a bag of M&M’s. And voila, a video idea.

You’ve Seen the 80s Aerobics Video, Right?

This video makes me happy. It’s silly. It’s stupid. It shouldn’t be as entertaining as it is, but, dammit, I can’t watch it with a straight face. For your Feel-Good Friday, I present…

You could always watch the original, but the swapped music versions are better. There are some others with Taylor Swift, Fall Out Boy, and The Killers. Maybe more.

18 Songs in Lullaby Form?

OMG. That is cute.

Since I’m late to literally everything, you probably already know about these and have heard every single one, but I’m going for it. Presenting Rockabye Baby’s lullaby renditions of popular songs.

To my credit, I didn’t just discover these, but I made a conscious effort to listen to more of them. In times like these, having a baby around would give me an excuse to listen to these. As it is, at the time I’m writing this, it’s Friday night, and I’m a grown woman consciously listening to lullabies. What is my life?

Anyway, enjoy some of my favorites:

When the Song and the Scene Cannot be Separated

It’s Music Monday again! This week, I’ve decided to highlight a few songs synonymous with a movie or show. When certain songs are used during a scene, it becomes nearly impossible to hear them without imaging the scene. Just me?

This is not the same as the best music/scene pairings. That’s for another list.

Here are a few of my favorites:

FYI, spoilers ahead.  🙂

Fight Club

Of course, I must start with Fight Club. The final scene of the movie uses “Where is My Mind” by The Pixies, and I guarantee, you cannot hear this song without imagining Edward Norton and Helena Bonham Carter hand-in-hand as buildings explode before them. Am I right? For me, I’d never heard this song (or knew anything about the band) before I saw the movie, so that might be why one can’t exist without the other in my mind.

*Note: I found an edited version to post here. This one is without, uh, Tyler’s splicing work. 😉

Writing Exercise – Character Playlist #2: Lily

Time for another character playlist. As before, I’ll post the list with a few video samples and give you the link for the Spotify playlist if you’re on Lily’s wavelength. Music pun. And a bad one at that. Sometimes I can’t help myself.

Since Lily tends to dwell in the past, it’s only fitting her music preferences would be from another time.
