It’s time to share some more random facts about me. Why? I have no idea.
My treadmill is my happy place. Look, some people are anti-treadmill. They’re all about “the outdoors” and “natural light” but I’m doing just fine, thanks. “Treadmill TV” anyone? Yes! It’s this total awesome sauce YouTube channel, where basically, someone runs with a camera so it’s like a first person view of a trail, or a city sidewalk, or wherever. Last week I was in Australia. Yesterday, I went to Singapore. No passport required.
A recent guilty pleasure of mine: Shane Dawson. His new stuff is great, and I’m glad he’s evolving, but I can’t get enough of his older videos: life hacks, girl product reviews, food hauls. When he first starting wearing those plastic lips, I thought I’d fall off my treadmill. I had a pain in my side from laughing. Yes, he can be crude, very, but OMG, he cracks me up. And so bingeworthy.
I can’t remember the last time I saw a movie in theatres that didn’t have a Marvel logo at the beginning. Most recent being Infinity War. And I can’t even talk about it. Literally. I can’t. I will say that having Thor and Bucky in the same movie was almost too much to handle. I love me some Winter Soldier action. I need a moment. The feels are coming.
I used to care about my novel so much it hurt. And now, while I still love it, it doesn’t seem as realistic to see it on a bookshelf. Unless it’s my own. With its printer pages bound together with yarn. Dream big.
Will I continue to query? Is it still my baby? Yes and yes.
I’ve been listening to Breaking Benjamin exclusively since February. I. love. them. My Ember album review will be posted soon. If you are some random person randomly reading my random list and you also love Breaking Benjamin, will you be my best friend? I’m serious. Talk to me. No one understands my love of BB. It’s very lonely in the fandom.
I’m teaching again, and it’s weird to say that. Two years ago, if you would’ve told me I’d been teaching English online to students in China, I would’ve questioned your sanity, then called a shrink on your behalf. Yet here I am, a teacher for VIPKID. I never thought I’d teach again. Ever. Life, you’re strange.
It’s almost pumpkin season. Pumpkin planting season, that is. I’ve been growing pumpkins for…four years? Honestly, I’m not too successful at it, but I have fun. I plant your typical Halloween pumpkins, casper (the white ones), Jack-B-Little (the…little ones), and pumpkin pie pumpkins. Every year, my vines are attacked by the devils that walk among us: the squash vine borer. I don’t hate too many things, but these effing bugs need to go die.
TGIFriday’s Pecan Crusted Chicken Salad is the single greatest item on any menu ever. I eat one of these salads once a year for my birthday. A strange tradition, you say? Fight me. What’s good: the balsamic vinaigrette dressing, the craisins, the oranges, the pecan-crusted-chicken that’s so good it’s title-worthy, even the lettuce. What’s bad: 1200 calories. For a salad! Worth it. Driving at least an hour to find a TGIFriday’s? So worth it. #smalltownlife
One of my favorite things to do is find gifs for my blog posts. Which obviously says a lot about how exciting my life is. Seriously though, I spend more time than I care to admit trying to find the right one. I mean, sometimes it takes me forever. I don’t know why I care so much about it, or why it matters to me, but it does. It can take an especially long time if I get caught up in the gifs and just start clicking on all of them (like that Winter Soldier one up there. That took at least 30 mins to choose. What is my life.).
I have a love/hate relationship with Facebook. I won’t dwell on this, but Facebook is the best way to feel super bad about yourself and everything you’re lacking in life. And the things people post? Why? I can’t be the only person who thinks this. Remember when Facebook was only for college students? What happened?
In case you’re really bored, here’s my first list, and apparently, I hadn’t discovered gifs yet: Random Lauren Facts
Thanks for spending some time here. Now that you know more about me, I’m not sure if you’ll want to stick around or not, but thanks for reading. Maybe I’ll do another random facts list? One never knows.
