Well, actually, it’s songs I binged last week, but whatever.
I remember the first time I heard this song. Pandora, I think. My reaction was kinda like, “What is this? And why do I love it?” It’s creepy as hell, yet so delicious. Yes, a song can be delicious.
Rage Against the Machine/Vanessa Carlton “Killing in the Name/A Thousand Miles” Mash-Up
OMG, have you heard this? I’m a big fan of mash-ups. Check these out: The 35 Best Mashups You’ve Never Heard. But I hadn’t heard this one. I didn’t know what to expect. They fit together SO WELL. I can’t stop listening to it. The video cracks me up. People moshing to a piano.
Bad Wolves “Zombie” (Cranberries Cover)
I was never a huge fan of this original song. But I love this guy’s voice. And if you’re going to start with a piano, I’m on board. That’s pretty much enough to make a song bingeworthy. His lower register reminds me of David Draiman. Thanks, Pandora.
Gerard Way “Hazy Shade of Winter” (Simon & Garfunkel Cover)
Yes, the Gerard Way. Love the beginning especially. This showed up on my recommended videos list on YouTube. And my little emo heart wept. Ha, not quite, but have you ever read comments on MCR videos? Their fandom is COMMITTED. The band’s break-up was life altering for them.
Tori Amos “A Sorta Fairytale”
So, I posted this song last week, and since then, I can’t stop listening to it. I forget how amazing it is.
Another Music Monday come and gone. So where are my other posts? Not sure if you’re wondering, but it you are, here’s the deal. Music posts are so easy to write, since music is pretty much the reason we’re here. The meaning of life and all that. Right? I could post one every day. Music helps me get through the day. I mean, my days are very quiet, in a manner of speaking. So it helps in that way.
Music sort of fills in the parts of my life that are otherwise missing. I mean that. I don’t know if people have that kind of relationship with music or not, or whether I’m sounding insane. It is what it is. And I get really excited about certain songs in particular that I want to share them. And, well, this is where I share things.
Writing about writing is often…depressing? Mostly due to the uneventfulness of it. The loneliness of it. The slowness. The disappointment. Why do we write again? Sometimes I forget.
As for VIPKID, honestly, I don’t know what to write about next. I’ll get an idea eventually. Till then, it’s all music all the time.
