Hi. I’m Lauren. I’d write this in third person, but it seems too formal, and this blog is anything but. If you’ve read my posts, you know it’s very conversational around here. I’m writing to you as if I were talking to you. And that’s how this section should be written as well.

I live in Maryland with my cat, and toughest critic, Mocha. I was an English teacher for eight years in both middle and high school, but resigned in the summer of 2016. In April of 2018, I started teaching English online with VIPKID, and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

As far as writing, I have a manuscript I’m hoping to get published–once I find an agent. One day. You can find out more about my novel in the “I’m Only Me” tab above. I’m also the proud owner of a few pages in Maryland’s Emerging Writers with an excerpt of my short story, “Not Quite a Dunbar Man.” My latest pub credit came in spring 2019 with “Dad’s Room.” You can find it in America’s Emerging Literary Writers: Southeast Region. Link way down below.

Besides writing and teaching, I love chocolate, cats, the sound of rain, coffee with too much creamer, sleeping in, ’90s nostalgia, pumpkins, Tim Gunn, and the Oxford Comma.

Music is my first passion, and you will find many posts ranting about songs. I guess fangirling over bands is a hobby of mine. I also geek out over Marvel movies. My favorite Avenger is Thor, but I LOVE me some Bucky Barnes–definitely the most underrated in the MCU.

I’m not a fan of alarm clocks, tomatoes, due dates, egos, mosquitos, bullies, country music, spoilers, politics, and bad memories.

I don’t have cable, but I like to binge shows on Netflix. For current shows, I’m into This is Us and Better Call Saul. And I watch way too many YouTube videos.

If you’d like to know more about me, just read my blog. There’s more info in these posts than I’d ever say in person. Leave a comment, send me a message, whatever. Assuming you’re a real person, I’ll respond, guaranteed. You can also find me on Twitter and Instagram: @laurenseewrites
