First of all, I apologize for the lame title. It’s really lame, isn’t it.
Now, maybe you can relate to this, but do you ever like something, like really like something, and you binge on it? Then, something happens and you either forget about it, or move on, or find something else that replaces it? Well, my God. I forgot how awesome Ze Frank is. Shame on me, I know.
I found one of his videos that I hadn’t seen–hooray! And I wanted to post it, because, as usual, the man is a freaking genius. While I don’t believe in fate, at all, I think I was meant to find this today. I’m calling it a happy accident.
We’ve reached the last Wednesday in May. Really? That also means it’s the last Ze May post. Sad face. Fear not. I can almost guarantee he’ll be back at some point on this blog.
For the final installment, I’ve chosen a longer video than the previous ones, but it’s definitely worth a watch, especially if you’re in a creative rut. Ze shares some advice which can easily be applied to writing. It’s golden.
Hope you’ve enjoyed Ze May. And May in general. 😀 See you in June!
Two more Wednesdays of Ze May. I find this video pretty inspiring. Maybe you will too.
If you want to be a writer, you should be writing. Not tomorrow, but today. -Ze Frank
It’s Ze May, Week 2: Kindness.
That’s how I like to think of kindness, I guess, as little rays of light that emanate out from the interactions that you have with people. Maybe little candles that light inside them. -Ze Frank
The man is brilliant. Soak it up, people. Soak. it. up.
Hey, Ze? I know cheesy. This is not.
I’ve decided I’m going to dedicate each Wednesday in May to Ze Frank.
Ze May, if you will.
I still love him. So, so much. He’s still so awesome to me. Inspirational, wise, wonderful. He always has this way to make me feel at ease with this thing we call life. I’m not sure how, but who cares.
I thought I’d use this Wednesday post to share some wise words and maybe even make this a weekly thing. For this week, guess who? Ze Frank! It’s been too long since he has graced these pages.
I probably said this on February 1st as well, but the first of the month is always a kick-starting kind of day. I feel positive and pumped and motivated and all around awesome. But unlike February 1st, I’m hoping that good feeling lasts past the 2nd or 3rd.
I want this video to inspire me and propel me to greatness. Can it inspire you?
Have a great March, everybody!
As of today, I have sent out a total of 8 queries.
I have received 2 rejections.
These things take time. After reading several submission guidelines from different agencies, I’ve seen turn around times anywhere from 2 to 12 weeks.
And wouldn’t you know it? Ze Frank has some thoughts on the topic of rejection. There are so many videos about rejection on YouTube. But there’s only one Ze. I love this video. But you already knew that.
My first rejection back in December was awesome. Yes, you read that right. I took a screenshot of the email and made it my desktop background.
You know that feeling when you hear something and you think that person has read your mind? Or that person just gets it?
That’s this. This video. Right here. “Supposedtobes.”
Yep. Ze Frank does it again. His pawn shop metaphor gives me life.
Most of the time, before I go to sleep, I think about all the things I want to accomplish the next day. When I get up in the morning though…it’s a different story.
I must confess. I’m addicted to editing. I’ve been tied to the same manuscript for seven years now. That’s a long time in case you weren’t aware. And I hear it’s strange to be addicted to editing? Beats me. Anyway, you may have seen this infographic before. It shows how long it took to write several famous novels. I’m right in there with Lord of the Flies and Harry Potter. Now of course Golding and Rowling are more talented than I will ever be, and they knew what they were doing at the time, I assume.
But none of that is the point of this post. Focus, Lauren.
I must also confess I’m in love with Ze Frank. That’s the point. The man is magnetic in every possible way. And I have developed a legit crush on him. I kid you not. FYI, it’s quite possible and highly likely the same will happen to you if you watch enough of his videos. Those eyes. Focus. This video in particular is great advice, if, like me, you struggle with walking away from a project or knowing when to stop.
